Skaramagas Shipyards, Qualco Group, and Olympic Marine have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation for the study, development, and production of a multi-role Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). This initiative integrates artificial intelligence technology with traditional shipbuilding expertise to create a new generation of dual-use vessels.
A Strategic Three-Pillar Alliance
The partnership combines three distinct sectors of Greek industry:
- Skaramagas Shipyards contributes deep experience in complex naval systems.
- Qualco Group leads the software and artificial intelligence development.
- Olympic Marine provides expertise in manufacturing advanced composite hulls.
The goal is to produce a fully Greek product—designed, programmed, and manufactured domestically—aimed at both the domestic and international markets. These vessels are intended for the protection of maritime infrastructure, energy networks, and enhancing security during a period of heightened international focus on maritime safety.

Orestis Tsakalotos, Executive Chairman of Qualco Group, emphasized that AI and digital technologies are key accelerators for modern defense and industrial innovation. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, CEO of Skaramagas Shipyards, noted that this collaboration designs the future of autonomous naval systems "by Greek hands." Furthermore, Nikolas Dendrinos, President of Olympic Marine, stated that their expertise in advanced composite materials finds a field of application with true strategic depth in this project.
