More than 1,000 visitors of all ages gathered at the facilities of the National Centre for Research and Technological Development (CERTH) in Thermi on Friday, September 25, for "Researcher's Night 2026." This marked the first time the event was hosted directly at the Center's premises, offering the public direct access to the research work conducted there.
Educational Initiatives and Technological Exhibition
The day began with a visit from over 100 students from the 2nd Gymnasium of Sykeon and the 1st EPAL of Neapolis. Students toured the research infrastructure, and by the afternoon, the doors opened to the general public. Key points of interest included the Center's new facilities, such as the "Remote Collaboration Space_Dimitrios K. Tzovaras" and the "Smart Greenhouse."
At the technological exhibition accompanying the event, researchers presented cutting-edge applications, including:
- Artificial Intelligence systems and digital twins.
- Autonomous electric vehicles and robotic applications.
- Technologies for cybersecurity and sustainable mobility.
- Innovations in life sciences and the circular economy.
Multidimensional Program and Official Presence
The program featured interactive experiments, a bioinformatics escape room, stargazing, and presentations of CERTH's spin-off companies. Special mention was made of the 30th anniversary of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Development, Stavros Kalafatis, who was briefed on the latest developments in research and innovation. The evening concluded with an artistic program featuring the Thessaloniki City Philharmonic Orchestra, Japanese fencing demonstrations, and aerial acrobatics.
