Amazon’s October Prime Day has effectively reversed Apple’s June price increases for its midrange laptop lineup. The 13-inch MacBook Air, featuring the M5 chip and 512GB of storage, is currently available for $1,099, down from its usual $1,299 price tag. This discount marks the first significant price reduction for the device in several months.

Model Comparisons and Pricing

The sale extends to the 15-inch variant as well. Also equipped with 512GB of storage, the larger model is now priced at $1,299, reduced from $1,499. Beyond the increased screen real estate, the 15-inch model offers specific hardware advantages over its smaller counterpart:

  • A six-speaker sound system (two more than the 13-inch version).
  • Two additional GPU cores for enhanced graphical performance.

The M5 Advantage

Apple’s 2026 MacBook Air series introduced the M5 chip, which provides a noticeable speed boost to both processing power and storage compared to previous generations. While the base price saw an increase earlier this year, the current discount brings the machine to a more competitive level. Key strengths of the hardware include its long battery life, high-quality display, and superior audio performance. The M5 model maintains a significant performance lead over more budget-oriented options like the $699 MacBook Neo.
