As the back-to-school season approaches, Google is introducing a new dedicated student hub within Gemini. Designed as a one-stop repository, the hub allows students to collect research in a study notebook, create flashcards, and take practice quizzes to reinforce their learning.

Advanced Research and Organization Tools

Google is enhancing its study notebooks with support for graphs and images. A key organizational feature is the ability for Gemini to scan a syllabus and automatically populate Google Calendar with important test dates and deadlines. Furthermore, the company is adding "Deep Research" to Gemini Live, enabling users to generate complex research reports. Students can initiate a report, lock their phone, and receive a notification once the AI has completed the task.

Interactive Coaching with Google Lens

In the coming weeks, a new feature for Google Lens will debut within the mobile app. Students will be able to take photos of their worksheets or study materials to receive detailed explanations and conceptual help. The tool is designed to act as a coach, providing guidance if a student makes a mistake during their work.

Subscription Offers for Students

To support adoption, eligible students in the US can access one year of Google AI Pro for free, a package that includes 5TB of storage, Google Health Premium, and higher usage limits for Gemini. Students outside the US will have access to the Google AI Plus subscription, which provides 400GB of storage and more moderate usage limits compared to the Pro tier.
