Amazon is rolling out Alexa Plus to Fire TV device owners in the United States at no additional cost. Starting today, US users with an Amazon Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember smart TV, or other compatible TVs from manufacturers like Panasonic and Hisense, will gain access to the more conversational AI assistant.
From subscription to free access
Previously, Amazon limited Alexa Plus access to Fire TV customers with a Prime or Alexa Plus subscription. Now, the service is being opened to everyone, enabling features such as movie recommendations based on mood, the ability to jump to specific scenes, and the capacity to answer questions about on-screen content.
The upgrade also strengthens smart home integration. Users can control lighting, manage door locks, and pull up security camera feeds directly on their television screens. Amazon states that Alexa Plus on the TV is specifically "made to save you from your phone."
Automatic rollout and expansion
The company confirmed it will automatically upgrade all Fire TV owners to Alexa Plus. While the initial release is focused on the US market, Amazon noted that "additional devices and regions may be added over time," suggesting a broader international rollout could follow.
