Meta has announced the rollout of parental supervision tools for Threads in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This expansion is part of the company's ongoing effort to provide parents with resources to support their teens across Meta’s suite of applications.
Enhanced Oversight Capabilities
Through the Family Center, parents and guardians now have access to specific insights and controls regarding their teen's activity on Threads. Key features include:
- Time Management: Parents can view the total time spent on the app daily and the weekly average.
- Usage Limits: Guardians can set daily limits and block access during specific hours or days. These limits apply across all devices used by the teen.
- Sleep Mode: Access can be restricted at night, with a default setting from 10 PM to 7 AM that mutes notifications and enables auto-replies.
- Tagging and Privacy: Control over who can tag the teen in posts and the ability to manage sensitive content preferences.
Integration with Teen Accounts
The supervision tools build upon the existing protections of Teen Accounts, which already include automatic privacy settings and content filters. For users under the age of 16, parents can now decide whether to permit changes to these default settings, ensuring a more controlled digital environment.
Meta indicated that it intends to continue expanding these supervision tools to streamline how parents manage their children's experiences across its various platforms from a single interface.
