The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is making a significant impact at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), running from September 5 to 13, 2026. The highlight of this year's presence is 'Evgenia,' the first digital avatar of the Greek public sector, signaling a transition toward AI-driven citizen engagement.

A Digital Partner for Citizens

Designed based on a real person, Evgenia communicates with the public using natural, everyday language. According to AADE, the application provides information and answers on specific thematic areas, serving as an initial step toward utilizing advanced Artificial Intelligence in public services. The long-term goal is for Evgenia to become a 'trusted digital partner' for citizens.

The AADE pavilion (Pavilion 13, Stand 12) was inaugurated on Saturday, September 5. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the stand and had the opportunity to converse directly with the digital avatar.

Strategic Pillars and Technological Infrastructure

Beyond the avatar, AADE showcased its broader digital transformation roadmap, focusing on four key axes:

  • Digital Transformation & Infrastructure: Replacing legacy information systems and developing Data Lake/Data Hub infrastructures utilizing cloud technology.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Integrating AI tools for predictive analysis and anomaly detection. These systems are designed to comply with the EU AI Act and GDPR, ensuring explainability and human oversight.
  • Cybersecurity: Strengthening the protection of tax data and information systems, coupled with ongoing staff training.
  • Targeted Audits: Implementing digital cross-checks and risk management through advanced data analysis.

AADE Governor George Pitsilis stated that the organization is systematically investing in data, digital infrastructure, and AI to ensure safer and more efficient operations. He noted that Evgenia offers the experience of 'human-like digital service' through natural conversation.
