A new legal dimension has been added to the Greek wiretapping case, as Giannis Papadopoulos, an active member of the National Intelligence Service (EYP), filed a lawsuit with the Athens Prosecutor's Office. This move stands apart from previous complaints, focusing on the breach of national security through the infection of official communications.

Charges of Espionage and Criminal Organization

The lawsuit targets four convicted individuals, including Tal Dilian. The alleged offenses cited in the legal document include:

  • Violation of communication privacy
  • Formation of a criminal organization
  • Espionage

According to the lawsuit, this case is considered exceptionally grave because the victim, by virtue of his role within EYP, handles strictly classified information. The leakage of such data to private parties is framed not merely as a privacy breach but as a direct threat to national security.

Request for Expanded Investigation

The plaintiff is calling on prosecutorial authorities to broaden their investigation to identify all parties involved. The request seeks to uncover the masterminds, co-perpetrators, or accomplices who participated in the operation to infect his mobile device with the Predator spyware.
