President Donald Trump announced this afternoon that Elon Musk’s SpaceX shares for children will be distributed through newly established "Trump Accounts." Earlier today, Musk pledged to give one SpaceX share to "every kid in America" sometime next year.
Financial Scale and Key Contributors
Based on SpaceX’s stock valuation as of Friday, the distribution of 72 million shares would be worth approximately $10.5 billion, according to CNBC. Musk described the initiative as "the first of many" and extended thanks to Brad Gerstner, a booster of the Trump Account system, for helping enable the plan.
Musk is not the only high-profile donor committed to the program. Other figures who have promised contributions to the Trump Accounts include:
- Michael and Susan Dell
- Ray and Barbara Dalio
- Brad Gerstner
- Gwynne Shotwell (President of SpaceX)
Account Infrastructure
The White House stated that these tax-advantaged accounts were created automatically for 60 million children in October. Currently, over 70 million accounts have been established. President Trump appeared to confirm the collaboration through a post on his Truth Social platform.
