During his address at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented seven specific government commitments with a 2030 horizon. The plan focuses on boosting incomes, reducing unemployment, and ensuring the country's fiscal stability.
The Seven Targets for the Greek Economy
The Prime Minister set clear milestones for the next six years, which include:
- Employment: Unemployment is targeted to drop below 6%.
- Growth: The goal is an annual growth rate exceeding 2%, remaining double the European average.
- Wages: The average wage is projected to surpass €1,800. Additionally, the minimum wage will increase steadily to reach €1,000 by 2028, with the Prime Minister noting that triple-digit full-time salaries will disappear within 18 months.
- Investments: Total investment is expected to rise from €46 billion to over €65 billion, representing 20% of GDP.
- Public Debt: A rapid decline is forecasted, aiming for below 120% in 2029 and below 110% by 2030.
- Credit Rating: The government aims to reach the upper-medium grade "A," which would facilitate more favorable borrowing terms for the state and businesses.
Strategy for 2027-2031
The government's roadmap for the 2027-2031 period follows two main directions. The first involves the continuous stimulation of individual income, ensuring benefits from public coffers reach every citizen. The second direction focuses on maintaining the national development trajectory alongside defense strengthening and consistent care for the most vulnerable populations.
