Deloitte has officially inaugurated the new facilities of the Deloitte Competence Center (DACC) in Thessaloniki, marking a significant milestone for the firm's presence in Northern Greece. The new offices are housed in the historic PAEGA building at the city's port, a nearly 100-year-old industrial landmark transformed into a modern hub for technology and collaboration, designed with high sustainability standards.
The Evolution of the Competence Center
Starting eight years ago with a small team, the Competence Center has grown into one of Deloitte's most vital technology pillars in Europe. It currently employs over 1,400 specialized professionals working on international projects involving digital transformation, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence.
Solaria AI Hub and Generative AI
The new premises also host the Solaria AI Hub, Deloitte's third such center in Europe. The hub focuses on the research, development, and implementation of Generative AI solutions. Through Solaria, institutional bodies, businesses, and academic institutions can collaborate to develop applications, including agent-building tools and state-of-the-art digital assistants that revolutionize human-machine communication.
Strategic Investment in Local Expertise
Dimitris Koutsopoulos, CEO of Deloitte Greece, emphasized that Thessaloniki is not merely a regional office but a center for creating high-level expertise with global reach. Vassilis Kafatos, President of DACC, noted that the investment has created career paths allowing professionals to remain in or return to Greece, participating in high-specialization strategic projects.
The inauguration was attended by government officials, including Deputy Minister of Development Stavros Kalafatis, and the U.S. Consul General in Thessaloniki, Matt Hagengruber.
