Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced today that it attacked a US unmanned surface vessel (USV) in the Strait of Hormuz region. The news was reported by the official IRNA news agency and state television.

Justification for the Strike

According to the IRGC statement, the US military vehicle was "attempting to penetrate the protected zone of the Strait." Tehran interpreted this movement as an unauthorized entry into a restricted maritime area.

Escalating Regional Tensions

The incident occurs amid heightened friction between the two nations. Iran has warned that its retaliation will be "heavier" if American attacks persist. This development follows recent US strikes on three tankers in the Gulf of Oman, which were carried out in retaliation for missile attacks previously launched by the IRGC.
