Robinhood is granting its approximately 29 million customers access to AI trading agents developed by OpenAI and Anthropic. Announced during the company’s annual HOOD summit, the rollout allows investors to select from various models to manage trades, conduct research, and develop complex investment strategies using plain English instructions.

Model Selection and Features

Investors can select from OpenAI’s GPT-6 Luna and GPT-6 Sol, or Anthropic’s Opus 4.8. A key feature, "Loops," permits users to establish automated routines, such as daily market checks or overnight strategies that search for opportunities while the user sleeps.

“We’re making Robinhood the best place in the world for active traders by delivering tools once reserved for hedge funds, big banks, and quant firms,” stated Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev.

Guardrails and Legal Context

To ensure controlled operation, Robinhood has introduced safety measures, including dedicated trading accounts for the agents and the ability to set transaction limits. Users can also require the agent to obtain final approval before any trade. Regarding legal liability, Robinhood contends that these agents do not provide financial advice, suggesting the interaction is similar to consulting the internet or a friend.

Costs and Market Adoption

The service includes temporary free access to data from providers like Unusual Whales and Token Terminal. While GPT-6 Luna is free through the end of the year, other models will incur standard token fees. Early engagement is high; over 150,000 customers have already utilized a technical version of the tool, with agents currently facilitating nearly 30 million transactions per day on the platform.
