Microsoft has introduced the new Copilot, marking a fundamental shift in the evolution of AI in the workplace. The new version transitions from a simple assistant model that answers questions to a unified environment where employees can delegate complex tasks, create applications, and work directly with Office tools.
From Asking to Delegating
At the heart of this new experience are three pillars: Home, Code, and Autopilot. Home serves as the new starting point, integrating Chat for interactive work and Cowork for task delegation. A significant change is the direct integration of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into Copilot, allowing for file editing without the need to transfer content between different applications.
The Cowork feature is designed for end-to-end execution of complex tasks, while Autopilot functions as a proactive digital teammate. Autopilot has the capability to continue working even when the user is inactive, allowing humans to focus on decision-making and creativity.
Software Creation via Natural Language
The most radical addition is perhaps Code, which is based on GitHub Copilot technology. Through this feature, any employee can describe in everyday language the app, dashboard, or automation system they need, and Copilot undertakes its creation without requiring the user to write code.
This evolution reflects Microsoft's vision for an era where the ability to create with AI becomes an integral part of daily work. Additionally, an investment of over $1 billion by EY and Microsoft was noted for implementing Artificial Intelligence at an enterprise scale.
