METLEN has announced the signing of a major long-term commercial agreement with a leading Japanese chemical company. The deal focuses on the future supply of gallium from METLEN’s production facility in Greece, which is currently in an advanced stage of construction.
Strategic Importance and Volumes
Under the terms of the agreement, the Japanese firm will procure a quantity representing up to 16% of METLEN's total annual gallium production. This marks the second strategic commercial deal for the company’s future gallium output, highlighting the robust international demand for a reliable European supply source.
METLEN’s production model is unique within Europe, integrating three key pillars:
- In-house proprietary technology.
- Secured raw materials from Aluminium of Greece.
- Industrial-scale production capabilities.
Economic Outlook and Timeline
With this new partnership, METLEN’s planned annual production of 50 metric tons (50MT) is now effectively pre-sold for several years, well ahead of the production launch scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.
"The international response to our gallium production project continues to exceed our expectations," stated Evangelos Mytilineos, Executive Chairman of METLEN.
The agreement reinforces METLEN’s strategic focus on the M Critical & Rare Metals (CRM) sector. It demonstrates how industrial expertise can create globally competitive supply chains for materials essential to future technological innovations.
