A life-size bronze statue of John Lennon, currently standing on Liverpool’s iconic Penny Lane, is set to be auctioned. The sculpture is estimated to reach a sale price of approximately £100,000.
The History of the Sculpture
Created by the late artist Laura Lian, the bronze work has been situated outside St. Barnabas Church since August 2022. The location holds significant weight for music fans worldwide, given the street's historical connection to the Beatles.
Auction and Replacement
Following the sale, the original sculpture will not leave a void in the landscape. According to reports from the BBC, it is scheduled to be replaced by a replica. Penny Lane became a global landmark in 1967, following the release of the Beatles' hit song of the same name, and the statue has served as a modern tribute to that legacy.
