Seeking to turn the tables on the technology that cost them their jobs, a group of software engineers has launched OpenExecutive. This open-source AI system is designed to automate the roles of a CEO and their top leadership team.

Eight Digital Executives in One Personality

The platform functions through eight distinct AI agents, each mimicking a specific executive role such as the CFO, Head of Strategy, or HR Director. These agents collaborate to project a unified "executive personality" capable of managing a company.

Powered by Anthropic’s Claude models, the tool defaults to Claude Sonnet 4.6, switching to Claude Opus 4.7 for complex reasoning. Its developers claim the system can analyze corporate files and recall past decisions, effectively acting as a consultant with the expertise of a Harvard MBA.

The Irony of Automation

The project highlights a pointed irony: if AI is used to replace rank-and-file workers for efficiency, the same logic should apply to the C-suite. The creators suggest that an AI CEO offers the benefit of working without raises or the threat of strikes.

The trend toward automated leadership isn't exclusive to these engineers. Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly working on his own AI executive assistant and a digital twin to maintain a photorealistic presence across his organization.
