Anthropic, the AI powerhouse behind the Claude model, is weighing a move to go public as early as November 2026. According to Bloomberg sources, the company could initiate its Initial Public Offering (IPO) process during the week of November 9, aiming for a market debut before the Thanksgiving holiday on November 26.

Staggering Valuations

Despite persistent debates surrounding AI safety, investor appetite remains extraordinarily high. Potential investors estimate Anthropic's valuation could land between $1.8 trillion and $2 trillion. This scale is expected to rival or even surpass the SpaceX IPO, marking a historic milestone for the technology sector.

Strategic Positioning and Competition

The potential IPO comes amid intensifying competition with OpenAI, which has seen significant sales momentum in recent months. However, the two leaders are taking divergent paths regarding public listings. While Anthropic’s CEO Dario Amodei prepares for the market, OpenAI’s Sam Altman has previously labeled a public offering at this stage as "reckless."

Notably, Amodei has publicly argued for a slowdown in the development of new AI models. At the same time, the market appears to be looking past concerns regarding "uncontrolled agents," focusing instead on the company's financial trajectory. Sources emphasize that discussions are ongoing and the timeline remains subject to change as no official announcement has been made.

"A crash would 'save' humanity from OpenAI and Anthropic," remarked Michael Burry, highlighting the skeptical voices trailing the ascent of AI giants.
