Apple has agreed to pay $250 million as part of a class action settlement following allegations that the company overhyped its "Apple Intelligence" tools, specifically the long-delayed overhaul of its Siri AI assistant.
Eligibility Criteria
While the revamped Siri is now available for owners of newer iPhones via iOS 27, customers may still be eligible for cash back for past purchases. This settlement covers U.S. customers who purchased certain iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 models directly from Apple between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Qualifying participants could receive up to $95 for each eligible device.
The Core of the Dispute
The settlement centers on Apple’s marketing of Siri features to drive iPhone sales. As part of the claim process, users must sign a statement stating: “I expected to receive a Siri Apple Intelligence feature and did not receive it.” Apple continues to deny any wrongdoing, stating in May that it resolved the matter to maintain focus on delivering innovative products and services.
How to File a Claim
To receive a payout, eligible users must visit smartphoneaisettlement.com and click "File A Claim." The process requires either the iPhone’s serial number (found in Settings > General > About) or an Apple Account ID. Claims must be submitted by December 21. Payouts are available via PayPal, Venmo, electronic bank transfer, or paper check.
